Local people lead the Verde Watershed Association on behalf of all the people who care about the area's resources. The Verde Watershed Association (VWA) provides thoughtful advice and counsel directed at those whose decisions affect the watershed. The Verde Currents newsletter, Internet site, public forums, conferences and mini-seminars are ongoing VWA activities. VWA also sponsors the Verde River Almanac project.

Growing concerns about water and the Verde River and its tributaries sparked formation of VWA in 1993. VWA strives to preserve and manage the Verde River watershed with local direction while encouraging long term, productive use of natural resources. VWA facilitates a comprehensive, fair, balanced and unbiased consideration of all sides of water-related issues to help people better understand the watershed and each other's perspective. VWA brings people and science together. Meetings are held the third Wednesday of each month at 10 a.m. in various watershed communities including Camp Verde, Chino Valley, Clarkdale, Cottonwood, Jerome, Prescott and Sedona.
